As a doula it is my goal to empower women to discover their own strengths and feel secure as they embark on their birth journey. I recognize that each labor and birth is unique, and see it as my role to protect the birthing space, wherever that may be, so that the mother may allow her labor to unfold with respect for the most elemental of physiological, psychological and spiritual foundations of birth. | Antenatal |
|
|
- A free consultation/interview to discuss what you are looking for in a doula and what I am able to provide.
- After you have selected me as your doula, Unlimited communication, either by phone, email or personal meeting to discuss your concerns, and needs in pregnancy and in preparation for your birth.
- Nutrition information and guidance on antenatal testing and procedures.
- Referrals to community resources for pregnancy or family issues as needed.
- Explanation of birth physiology and information regarding medical procedures.
- Dialogue to explore your thoughts and concerns of becoming a parent.

| During Labour and Birth |
|
|
- Continual attendance during your labor and birth and first hours post-partum.
- Preparing the birth space.
- Comfort measures and assistance with pain-coping techniques
- Helping Fathers/Partners and others to participate in a capacity that is most conducive to the needs of the birthing mother.
- Protecting the integrity of the birth space.
- Help getting started with breastfeeding.

| After Your Baby is Born |
|
|
- Visits and phone contact as needed in the days after your birth to check in to see how you and baby are getting along and to address any questions or concerns.
- A visit roughly three weeks after your birth to review your birth.
- Postpartum comfort measures.
- Breastfeeding support.
- Explanation of newborn characteristics and newborn care.
